Our mission is to educate consumers on reducing food waste because it is not only unhealthy for the environment but also unjust for developing countries that are food insecure. Through education, we hope to enlighten North Americans to buy the proper amount of food they need and not buy in excess. Many animals are being fattened up to be slaughtered for people to purchase as food. However, not all of these items are being eaten making the deaths of these animals unjustified. For the veggie lovers, farmers work long grueling hours in the scorching heat to pick crops in order to supply proper nutrients for others but some food is thrown away before it’s even touched. The worst part is, most of the trash that people throw out is not being buried in landfills in North America, but is actually being shipped to less developed countries overseas. Thus, North Americans are not only wasting food, but money and energy resources as well. By spreading awareness through education and news, people will learn to appreciate food and the process behind making it.
Who loves food? WE LUUURVE FOOD! We are a group of five from UC Davis. Although we love food, we see a lot of it going to waste even at our college dining commons. Our goal is to spread awareness and encourage people to appreciate what they have so they won’t take things for granted.
