Use Case

Jako is a passionate food science student that wants to get involved with global challenges. He does not even know how to start getting himself involved with the world outside of his university. Jako hears about ORT, an organization involved in food and nutrition research. He finds out about their UMES plan. He participates in ORT’s workshops and learns about how to design a research. He continues to collaborate with ORT in their voluntary opportunities, learning skills that make him a potential future leader. After being involved with ORT for a year, he now has a professional character with a focus area of food marketing. ORT recruits him as the sales marketing assistant. Jako is now working on the marketing aspect of an idea that he helped ORT to develop for fighting hunger.

Potential

In ORT, we believe that one idea or one person does not have the power to change the world. It is a team effort. It needs a network of ideas that are created to work together and empower each other. In order to have that network, we need individuals who are trained to get out of their boxes, people who know how to come up with novel ideas and how to manage these ideas to work together. With our Universal Management and Education system (UMES), we aim to bring together all the knowledge and trainings needed for a person to create and be a part of a system that has the power to change the world. We bring together all the concepts that a person needs to be a part of the potential future leaders team.

Business Case

Our main focus is to work with food science and nutrition students/activists. Therefore, we are aiming to grab the attention of food and nutrition related industries to support our programs. We offer advertisement opportunities to our supporters, where they can connect with people who are involved with their industry. These advertisements ranges from electronic ones through out ORT website, newsletter or social media to sponsorship opportunities in our events and workshops.

Objectives:

  1. Introduce ORT and UMES to all food science and nutrition students/activists worldwide, getting them involved with our programs
  2. Collaborating with organizations involved with food and nutrition to form multi-central research, educational and management programs
  3. Expand ORT actives and UMES program by recruiting more professionals and finding investors

Congrats to ORT President for wining the 1st place and people's choice award in 3-Minute Thesis Competition at University of Kentucky, USA. Shayan's ‪#‎TED‬ style talk was about the health benefits of consuming "probiotics" (the good microbes), aiming to get the target audience familiarized with a topic that has the potential to play an important role in keeping people healthy and in a more in-depth look, helping to fight hunger.

User experience

Our major users are students and young professionals. Trying to get them familiar with some of the concepts that can turn them into future leaders is an important part of our project. Basic Presentation Skills workshop was delivered at University of Kentucky with the aim of getting more in touch with our users. Shayan instructed the workshop and it was awesome!

Our Mission

Omega Research Team (ORT), is a non-profit organization that aims to take a new step toward food and nutrition research. In ORT not only we believe that we can save the world from hunger but also we believe that food can be our medicine and can save us from modern life disease. We believe that food can be the key to a better future, not a problem for the future. We just need to understand what knowledge we need to gain, what opportunities we need to make and what risks we need to take.

Our Background

Omega Research Team (ORT) is a private non-profit organization founded in 2009 with the aim of taking a new step toward food and nutrition research. Collaborating with innovative and talented researchers in USA, Iran and other countries around the world, we seek to promote and bring together cutting-edge ideas in these fields. We also work closely with our organizational and corporate allies/sponsors to design arrangements based on mutual benefits and respect. While in ORT we work on the most critical and novel topics of food and nutrition realm, our main focus is working on functional foods and how their consumption affects the wellbeing of the human race. We believe that in a world full of boundaries where disciplines, institutions, countries and continents set individuals apart, building bridges and breaking the borders are inevitable actions. In ORT we will continue to advance our knowledge in our area of focus and we are dedicated to application and dissemination of our knowledge in societies around the globe.
