We founded Nutrasol in order to decrease the environmental impact caused by existent animal feeds. We developed a new form of poultry feed, based on the larvae of the black soldier flies. Our product is a high quality, natural alternative to conventional feed, which is produced in a sustainable way. At the same time we are aiming to keep the price at a competitive level to current soy bean based feed.
Today around 42% of global soy production is used to feed animals for human consumption. The global population is estimated to increase in 35% by 2050; which combined with more affluent consumers in Asia will drive demand for meat in 33%. As a consequence of this higher demand, soy mass production will have to increase, which in turn causes numerous environmental problems, including deforestation, water shortages and a loss in biodiversity. This is not sustainable, hence a revolution in the industry is imminent. That is why Nutrasol is trying to bring to life a sustainable alternative to feed animals. At the moment we are searching for funding a pilot phase, which will be performed with one of the biggest Chilean poultry producers. The experiment will take place over the course of 3 months and involves a total test population of 14.000 chickens.
