The Food Lab for Kids targets two challenges children today face – performance in the sciences and childhood obesity. Our goal is to foster an interest in the sciences through food and to begin the conversation on healthier eating. We hope to better educate students on how their food is made and present healthier, more sustainable options they can pursue. We believe that any change in eating habits must begin in childhood.
Marina Chen and Bonnie Lei, who first met in their freshman year at Harvard University, realized that they both shared an interest in the intersection of the sciences and the food system. They decided to translate this interest into action by creating The Food Lab for Kids. Christina Kwon is one of the original members of the group, beginning as a teacher and working her way up to co-president. Our team is passionate about educating the next generation about the food system and bringing greater awareness to many of the pressing issues that are often forgotten.
