foodrates........is intended to create a "MORE FOOD REVOLUTION CULTURE"
Agriculture being the back borne of development to the world, we should all join the mission to sustain and modernise it,so that our generation and those to follow never luck food.

Our Mission

hullo, my name is kyozira sheena sylvia my team consists of three members: Kyozira Sheena Sylvia: the team leader Kalanguka Leah: team member-secretary Namukuye Gloria:team member-coordinator my team stands for a food nation that tolerates no hunger in the world, a nation that has strong soldiers ready to put up a "MORE FOOD REVOLUTION CULTURE" in the world as no one deserves to go hungry without food, therefore we believe that our mission is the right choice to feed the world by 2050, a situation where food scarcity is no-longer an issue to the world. The earth groans under the weight of the numbers. Coming up with a farming plan that produces more but also doesn’t ruin the earth is best. With the creation of different farm groups all over the country we can easily monitor and work towards more farm produce. The idea is to provide resources to the farmers in the groups, lead them to end results and we can gain from each other. Using Uganda as our case study, more than 75percent of the country’s land is available for both cultivation and grazing according to statistical abstracts; MFP&ED. The climate is favorable and supports a great deal of rice beans and mushroom growing which can be very sufficient because they all can be stored long term. In the different regions of Uganda, due to slight changes in climate, a variety of different crops can be grown in the different regions. Using regional advantage, we can distribute resources required for the best crops or animals that can thrive to particular regions. With the climate and soils in Uganda there’s no need to add artificial fertilizers and therefore we can grow crops organically, fresh and in large quantities According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics 2012, 64 percent of youth (country definition 18-30 years) are unemployed and hence an opportunity for us to create jobs through farming. THE PLAN Given the fact that the land is plenty (over 16million hectares or 75 percent of available land) but the farmers lack the resources to carry out the farming, the plan is to provide them with the resources and divide the land to carter for a variety of crops as suitable in the different regions. Since over 64 percent of the youth are unemployed, Present are the workers. With the land divided into sections, it gets easier for the workers to be divided and fully give attention to the different crops. In the eastern region, crops such as rice, maize and millet thrive. In the western and central region, crops such as matooke (bananas) thrive. Cattle rearing thrives most in the western region of the country. In the north where the climate is mostly dry we can reclaim the land with special farming methods such as irrigation and in this way we make use of all regions in the country. With different farm groups created in all regions of the country, it is easier for us to monitor the farmers and easily distribute the resources as needed. In order to keep the system moving, we shall provide the raw material to farm groups, they will sell the produce back to us, we shall add value to the produce, and distribute or export the produce to different countries that lack and are in need of a particular food. By adding value, mushrooms by drying and packaging, rice by processing and packaging, maize by processing into posho and packaging, beef by processing and packaging to mention but a few they become easy to transport and are most sustainable. The more communities and countries we get involved in the process, the more efficient the plan, the more workers available and hence the production. Once the idea is adopted by neighboring countries it is easier to make an exchange or barter trade of the crops that thrive best in one country but may not thrive in another. In this way it is easier to get different foods across to different countries where it can be stored in food reserves for a time when there’s lack

Our Background

my team consists of students from makerere university who are all practicing agriculture,we are all farmers, Leah and i are beauty queens and we have a very big platform in our country to influence agriculture as we are already on the journey of this mission to inspire many to get involved and focus on agriculture, other than that we all have other businesses aside and different projects we are participating in this challenge because we believe it will be a very big opportunity to promote agriculture in our country as we share our ideas that we look forward to implement and the world at large with the fact that we fore see the agriculture sector as the biggest percentage of survival and economic development of the world in our generation and those that are to come after this. we also see this as an opportunity to learn more from the different teams that will be participating which will give us more knowledge and ideas to blend with our idea, mission, plan and whatever we plan to do next in future as a team. lastly, because we are excited to come and meet everyone, the brains behind Tff(The organization) the teams and make new friends. we care about standing out in the world as a team in many different ways like; being an inspiration to the world, helping out and volunteering whenever we can to a great cause.
