Why are we participating in TFF? / Published January 5, 2016 by Neha Buddhadev

Why are we participating in TFF?

" Guys, i don't just want to earn and make a good life for myself. The fact that i am capable of much more than just scoring and getting a job, i feel responsible to use my potential for greater good. I want to do something for the community at large."

One of our team member came up with such a deep insight on the very first day of 2016. We all resonated to this idea and the need to do something, which forced us to think "How?". In that very moment we all unanimously came up with 1 single voice - TFF.

We as potential team had met in November and had brainstormed about the idea and the concept of our project. however, since the deadline was so close and most of us had our exams, we decided not to participate. Extension of dead line didn't real mean anything to us, since we were occupied with exams and had scraped the idea of participating.

However, the thought of being the change agent has inspired us to atleast try.

Our Mission

All of us have been born and brought up in the city of Mumbai. Mumbai is the financial capital of India. Daily influx of people coming to seek livelihood in this city is in the hundreds of thousands. Growing here, we were introduced to the inequitable fortunes from day 1. Economy inequality leads to hunger and wastage in equal measure. This trend of urban hunger has been prevalent in most economic hubs. According to the UN half the world population lives in urban regions. The food available is inadequate, infected and highly adulterated. This causes chronic diseases and malnourishment. There is more than enough food in the world to feed everybody, however we need to bridge the gap between the 2 factions. At Vitarati, we intend to provide a means to do so. Vitarati in sanskrit means to give or bestow. We are providing a means to let those who can afford to give food to somebody across the globe. This anonymous beneficiary can feed a worker in Kenya while ordering for their own burger in McDonalds in Japan. This channel to give back to the world is powered by the gratitude married with acknowledgement of human suffering in the world. It is a powerful expression of compassion to create a semblance of equality in this competitive world, to give the underpriviledged the chance to feed on the same nutritious food that their richer counterparts feast on.
