Potential

Super-3 flour is a nutritious alternative to the commonly used wheat flour. It is a combination of wheat with legumes to produce a versatile flour which is not only preliminary ingredient in our everyday staple foodstuff, such as bread, but only provides an all-rounded nutrition for the body because of its high proportion of protein, carbohydrates and micronutrients. Where ever you look, a huge proportion of the world is effected by malnutrition which is one of the main causes of death due to health issues behind hunger and poverty. By demonstrating to the public the power of utilizing efficiently the resources and equipment readily available, we can maximize the nutritional potential of our food to help feed our bodies' health requirements and help save the world for malnutrition

Business Case

Producing a prototype and conducting sample trials to develop a product that passes consumer acceptance and gathering the general feedback to develop a potential market from high-legume wheat flour. Additionally, encouraging independent businesses and care-homes to use the product in their everyday foodstuffs to popularize this healthier and more nutritious version of staple wheat flour. Collecting the revenue raised for mass production and use a percentage of the revenue to help the poor people in desperate need of proper nutrition.

Objectives:

  1. Developing a sustainable solution for eliminating malnutrition by using natural resources readily available to the local communities
  2. Promoting a healthier and more nutritious version of a staple food with sufficient carbohydrates, proteins and micronutrient all in one
  3. Reducing the probability of malnutrition in underprivileged people by providing a continual supply of the product from the revenue gained

Super-3 Flour

Our team is proudly to present you "super-3 flour" which is a proteins, carbohydrates and micronutrients all in one flour. The 2 major sources of this product are legume and wheat flour. Legumes are cheap natural source readily available throughout the modern ingredient market. Several scientific papers stated that legumes have high nutritional value (high protein, low digestible starch, micronutrients, bioactive substances such as phenolics compounds), prevent metabolic disease such as diabetes and coronary heart disease, able to enhance the texture and taste in foods.

A Fact You Should Know

If you google online about hunger, there will be a lot of slogans stated that "A children died every 15 seconds due to hunger". In fact, children rarely really died because of hunger unless in an extreme circumstance. The "hunger" indicated in the slogan actually is that the nutrient rich foods do not reach the children. Therefore, children died as they unable to reach the daily requirement of energy and nutrients through the foods they consume. So, it is important for us to develop a product that consist adequate nutrient require for the children to grow.

Our Mission

We are team of Super-3 Flour. Our mission is to reduce the number of people suffer from malnutrition globally through develop a nutrient-rich product using readily natural sources.

Our Background

Super-3 Flour comprise of four master students currently studying Food related degree from University of Leeds. Malnutrition has become a serious problem in poverty country. It is ironic while someone dying of hunger, there are people wasting their foods everyday. My team intend to develop flour that able to provide balance nutrition of proteins, carbohydrates and micronutrients for human consumption. For example, proteins are an essential elements for growth and and provide energy for the body through breakdown foods.
