Foody Liaisons

Connecting those who want to give and those who don't receive.

We aim to feed 7 billion people by 2016. Our concept deals with the food that already exists and is wasted due to our rapaciousness.

Use Case

In the country of Big Fat weddings, Priya's father followed along the same lines. He organized a lavish evening with plethora of food varieties. At the end of the day he was ironically in a pickle, to do what with the extra food? He distributed it among his kins for an evident lack of option. They too found the food surplus and threw it away eventually for the absence of an alternative. Then he learnt about FoodyLiaisons, an organization that picks such surplus food and provides it to those in need. FL collaborates with NGOs and other non-profits to have a sumptuous delivery network. Priya's father has now been spreading the word and plans to use the services of FL in future as it saves the excess food and the money NGOs spend in collecting food themselves.

Potential

Due to a lack of mechanism and ultimately awareness, tonnes of 'good' and unused food is wasted every year. With almost 38 million accounting as middle and upper middle class, India is a great platform for our initiative. We consider these as our donating parties and if they donate food intermittently it can ease the tension on our farmers and the food industry, also it reduces the cost of making separate meals from scratch. Absence of food wastage will also lead to less pollution and trash collections. We hope to feed 100,000 poor people by the year 2017 as we are also implementing the plan alongside. These savings mean an elevated funding to our plan thereby increasing the radius of impact.

Business Case

Our business model initiates with fundings from corporates and other prominent companies that have separate funds in store to help organizations such as ours(as we need a high first investment). We will charge a nominal fee if the food is picked up from residences, providing an alternative to drop food at local refrigerators for free. Bulk orders shall be taken without charge. We'll be using Uber or other such services to patrol localities, charging a meagre sum for publicity. Furthermore, if the food is not edible its sold off as manure and in production of bio gas. Lastly, collaborations with restaurants to donate everyday, providing coupons to our regular donors and advertisements on our refrigerators.

Objectives:

  1. Of the 230 million that sleep without food daily in India, we hope to impact some of them and then rise exponentially(hopefully).
  2. To flourish and expand our radius to national and even international premise. Reduce pressure on the farming industry.
  3. To collaborate with NGOs and non-profits to work harmoniously. Indulge the government to provide us with more resources and help expand.

Plan in a gist.

This is what we will be doing and have started building.

Our Mission

Rapacious as we humans are, we have an inclination to bite more than we can chew, quite literally in this context. So we at FoodyLiaisons have taken it upon ourselves to provide a framework, a substantial entity that would help feed the ones in need not only today but hopefully tomorrow, day after, and until the end of days. We use this leftover of train from the well stomached and connect them to ones who scurry through the day sometimes even without a single meal.

Our Background

We are a bunch of intellectual misfits hoping to make a difference without making a mark for ourselves. Probably the first time we intended to do something so selfless. What we didn't anticipate was this requires a platform and we hope to gain just that. We wanted to implement our plan on regional basis and according to our prowess. The last of our thoughts is to earn something. All we wanted to do and why we started from ground bottom was that we wanted to help those less privileged than us, and provide them a content meal before the night dawns on them. Our plan has been criticized, scrutinized, ridiculed with mockery but it seems fruitful and effective to us, and so here we stand. An opportunity, that's it.
