Yellow Canopy is basically a team of 5 BRAC University students. We began our journey near the end of 2014 with a hope of contributing for the people who are in need. We believe in the idea of small contributions. Why not we ourselves try to do as much as we can to help out the people in need? Unlike most NGO's and Social Firms we do not go for huge donations from big companies rather we try to take the responsibility on our shoulders and try to make a change. A small contribution from 100 people ultimately can be more effective than taking a huge donation from one individual or company, simply because of the fact that those 100 contributors can increase to unlimited number of contributors. And then the funds can be endless. We want to spread the message that we ourselves, each and every single one of us, can help make a change. We just need to do our part. Yellow Canopy is working to spread this message and trying to make a contributor out of every individual to take care of the people who are in need.
Our team "Yellow Canopy" seeks to help out the people in need. May it be through providing a proper meal a day, or providing education, or even ensuring that they receive their basic rights. As mentioned above, Yellow Canopy only works with small contributions from people and we do not go for large funds. We are here to participate in this challenge because it matches with our ethics and goals of doing something for the people. We also require a platform through which we can pith the ideas that we have to address this issues, which we believe can be revolutionary specially when it comes to social contributions. We have already carried out two projects with that ideology in mind. Our first project was-"Project Iftar with Street Kids". In which all of our members and some friends collaborated to put together the exact same amount of money we normally spend on a Iftar (the meal after fasting) meal in some fancy restaurant, and instead we decided to do the Iftar with the street kids with that money. With just 8 contributors we were able to cover over 100 street kids. That was just an example of how big of an impact it can have if we can all make this small contributions and start taking the responsibility on ourselves. Just doing as much as we can is enough to bring about a change. Our Second Project was- "Eid Kapor". For our second project we again jotted down some of our pocket money that we had saved from everyday expenses and collaborated to buy new clothes and gave it to the poor. we again were able to cover a huge number of people just through the contributions of a few individual. We have showed through our projects that our ideas are feasible and again i Say, we have one specific idea which we believe can bring about a revolution in social contribution.
