FreeFood

Why produce much and share less when we can produce less and share more?

Avoid food waste and contribute to a better distribution of food production , strengthening local communities.

Use Case

Sometimes, when walking by a particular avenue in sao Paulo, there is a man looking for food in the garbage of the rich buildings of the city. See this and being unable to solve the problem leave us quite sad. There are several others in similar situations of poverty that could be helped by the neighbors nearby or supermarkets - where there is a great waste of food in consumer conditions . The FreeFood project was born from inequality in Brazil. We want to make the country a more human place in the question of food. The country is considered one of the ten more food wasteful in the world, with about 30% of its production being virtually thrown away in the post-harvest. We see the high rate of waste as an opportunity to use these foods for distribution, donation and exchange.

Potential

The According to the UN(United Nation), 800 million people still suffer from hunger and poverty. Hunger is still a major problem in Brazil, in conflict zones of war and natural disaster zones. On the other hand, we know that the big problem of world hunger is not in production, but rather the distribution and storage of food. In 2050 the future food production must increase by around 60%. But by 2050, 800 million people will suffer from hunger and poverty in the world. Thinking about the current situation of high loss distribution and storage que freefood wants to act. We want to help now this people who need it most.

What motivates us

According to the UN (united organizations) Brazil has the eighth largest social inequality in the world. This inequality occurs in many ways.Through the differences in access to quality education, of distribution unequal income and how can we expect access to quality feed.Thinking about this issue because they do not try to develop tools to reduce the size of inequality?Often this role is the government organization. At other times businesses may be in this place and try to create a business to make money and help people. It is precisely what the Free Food wants to create. In addition to people exchange, share and donate food.O freeFood believes it can expand the concern for self sustainability of feeding. The houses could have their own gardens and exchange your vegetables with neighborhoods. This is just one example of the possible application of the idea. The reality is that there are several examples.
Another idea that is too strong is the map of hunger. The freeFood want to map the locations where there is more need to receive food. The target audience are people who are in extreme poverty or in need of urgent food.So people who have food available can be voluntary help. The motivation to help people is to strengthen the human being and to society. But the dynamics of the human being gamification is a new branch that translates espirity of competition be human. So the application to think of a system that those who give food also virtual points that can be redeemed for real prizes.

New trend of collaborative economy / Published January 14, 2016 by Bruno Gabriel Alves

New trend of collaborative economy

The main economic trend of the 21st century is the collaborative economy. When connecting unknown with common interests and needs, social networking applications and facilitate for sharing and exchange of services and objects on an unprecedented scale.
For this reason, who assigns the collaborative economy the power to reduce waste, increase efficiency in the use of natural resources, combat consumerism and to reduce social inequality in the world.
But there is no doubt, for now, the power of collaborative economy to foster the sharing based businesses. Proof of this is that the Airbnb platform - offering vacant rooms and rental properties Rentals - now has a market value higher than the big hotel chains such as Hyatt. Only in 2015, the collaborative ventures handled over $ 110 billion worldwide, according to Forbes magazine.
One of the most favorable points to the spread of collaborative economy is to be a useful model for both the giver and for those who hire a service. In collaborative economy can be eliminated middlemen and the costs of a formal structure of trade.
So the collaborative economy is a new trend and we can apply this to feeding. So how would be the dynamics of the food trade on this new economy? In this new environment that Freefood wants to act changing the current paradigms of feeding.

Our Mission

The team's mission is to share .We believe in the power of good side of human beings to solve a huge problem in the simplest possible way. And this simple way is through food sharing. To share you need to create a network of people interested in helping . We got two focus for our project:The first is the exchange of food between companies , restaurant , and people, to be an economic gain through the exchange. The other focus of the project is to map the famine areas of the region and organize people to bring food to people in these vulnerable regions. To create this network the group 's mission is to create an application to map hunger in your city .

Our Background

We are participating in the competition to help people. Even if we don't get classified , the working time we spend on the idea has generated the interest and desire to create a truly useful tool for society. In Brazil, there are many people still seeking food in the trash. It is very sad to see people looking for food in these conditions in the center of Sao Paulo , the richest city in Brazil . Alone can not help many people; and from then comes the idea of union. This union will be through the social media. After unite a community of people willing to help, will be created an app to mobilize people to create donating groups and and promote the exchange of food in their neighborhoods. The focus is to bring people together to share food.
