ExpireNOT

Finish food in a different way

ExpireNOT is the 1st Food Management App designed with game and social elements to attract users to record food consumption on a daily basis

Use Case

The mainstream of our target customers are the young generation, such as university students and young professionals. They usually have difficulties in estimating their food consumption accurately, and struggles to finish packaged food due to large food portions sold at supermarkets. Food related enterprises, such as supermarkets, local restaurants and cafes, can use our APP as a marketing platform to increase their revenue in two ways: 1) getting their reduced deals known by a larger group of customers, 2) advertising food promotions.Food retailers and manufacturers will also be interested in our services of data analysis on customers’ behaviors in food purchase and consumption. They can improve their packaging, portion size and length of consumable period etc. accordingly.

Potential

ExpireNOT will start to reduce food waste as soon as users begin to record their food products. It will prevent users from duplicate purchases and help them to consume food smartly according to expiry dates. For excess food, users can ‘share & pair’ with people nearby to finish consuming food that’d be otherwise wasted. In the long run, ExpireNOT will reduce waste from root in two ways.1) Supermarkets and other food retailers, contributing to a large proportion of food waste, will reduce waste by selling deals of products due to expiration on ExpireNOT.2) Food manufacturers will remove generic food waste by re-designing products larger than average customers can consume based on our data analysis. With these impacts, ExpireNOT is can reduce food waste smartly and effectively!

Business Case

ExpireNot has a viable business which allows it to scale with speed.First of all, ExpireNot will be free to all individual users, and this will lead to the number of users to grow fast. A large customer base will then be attractive for commercial businesses to advertise deals and products on ExpireNOT, which in return will be appealing to individual users to stay and grow further.Profits will be generated from premium services offered to commercial businesses, which include:1. advertising commercial deals and products2. data analysis on customers’ behaviors of shopping and consumption.Data analysis on product designs will also be interesting to food manufacturers to improve existing ones or develop new products. Hence, it can be charged to create more incomes.

Objectives:

  1. Help individual households to achieve nearly zero food waste by 2050.
  2. Help supermarkets and restaurants to reduce 50% food waste from discounted offers on ExpireNOT by 2050 and to channel with charities.
