Our Mission

Malnutrition is a global epidemic and affects millions of children worldwide. (~more than 1.2 billion children every year) It causes highest number of deaths in children below 5 years of age. It also causes disorders like anemia ( affects ~80% adolescent females) and compromised immunity which increases risk of acquiring diseases. The breakfast revolution team aims towards the eradication of global malnutrition. We believe in providing safe, fortified, tasty, high shelf life based ready to eat foods starting at 12-15 cents a meal. The team stands for a market driven, affordable solution to feed millions.

Our Background

Dr. Pankaj Jethwani, a healthcare consultant and innovator has a firm belief that the key to overcome malnutrition lies in adequate supply of vitamins, minerals, proteins and other micro nutrients. Dr. Saurabh rane, a non profit consultant believes that cost effective quality consumption is the solution to all food problems. Both have having worked with several Non profits, social organisations(Rotary International, Lions international), government policies and Public health schools (Harvard SPH, Harvard India initiative).Hence, have gained knowledge about nutritional issues from the grassroots and have been recognized for their community based projects in the past. With over a billion mouths to feed, every meal counts. Integration of these affordable fortified foods will provide essential vitamins, mineral, proteins and other micro nutrients that are important for absorption of food. There is a spurt of physical and mental growth in the child during the first 5 years of his life. Inappropriate nutrition not only hinders the growth but could also result in fatalities. A malnourished child often grows to become a malnourished adult and remains susceptible to diseases. It affects the quality of life, and also reflects on the working capacities. Developing nations lose ~5% of their GDP due to this cause. Dreaded diseases like tuberculosis(highly infectious) and cancer also require micro nutrition. Our focus is on the population that does not have the time or resources to cook, store or consume the required daily allowance of these nutrients in their daily living. We want to reach out to every last door in the most rural or urban area where nutrition is essential. It's not just satisfying hunger, but also providing the necessary nutrition. Due to the cost effective nature of these fortified meals, the networking and funding can be used to reach a higher number of beneficiaries. The meal includes products like highly fortified and flavored cookies, milk, nuts etc. which are ready to eat and store. We have established a few channels to reach the necessary population. Partnering with NGOs and social communities who are already active in areas, leads to efficient functioning. Second, by establishing a public private partnership leading to scale up the nutritional intervention. Lastly, by training females from the slums or rural pockets to directly distribute it in door to door fashion. It would create women empowerment along with distribution. Participation in this challenge is the best platform to bring this dream to reality.
