creating secret recipe that high nutrient to fulfill our daily dose of carbs and protein.

Our Mission

Indonesia is the third-largest country in global rice production. Ironically, it is still one of the biggest rice importing countries in the world. The current supply cannot meet the rocketing demand. Meanwhile, the majority of farmers are poor because they depend their life on the unpredictable climate and moneylenders who require them to pay 20% of interest. On the other hand, Indonesia has rich natural resources which consist of better nutrition compared to rice, but they are still not cultivated optimally, resulting a huge number of Indonesians still suffering from hunger and malnutrition. Therefore, Soo-Koonesia is challenged to find a breakthrough innovation in solving the problems. We strive to introduce breadfruits as the substitute of rice as a staple food. The nutritious fruit is found in many countries in tropical zones across the world. The flavonoid inside is able to keep our kidney and heart healthy, and the low glycemic index helps people with diabetes and obesity. Considering its potentials in providing good carbs and high nutrition, we try to innovate by combining it with crickets into instant porridge as an alternative staple food, breaking the mindset of instant food as unhealthy. The product gives a complete carbohydrate, minerals and protein to help reduce malnutrition and hunger. Moreover, by optimizing breadfruits as a staple food, we will eventually help reduce rice import and the abundant use of water in cultivating rice. It also helps farmers to have permanent income because the fruit grows all year long. In short, considering the advantages, we believe our product is a breakthrough solution to help farmers, reduce malnutrition, and feed 9+ billion people by 2050.

Our Background

Coming from the same university, passion, and social interest, we are keen to find solutions to fix problems that occur in our society. Our team consists of three passionate members: Diana, majoring in accounting, Jouvy, majoring in computer science, and Soulaya, majoring in English Studies. Both Diana and Soulaya first knew each other during student-exchange program. Then, they continued to share the same passion and teamed up in Young Social Entrepreneur International Competition. After that, they collaborated again as the President and Vice President of The Healthy Dreamdelion, a community development program which focuses on raising awareness on health and empowering the community with weekly health education and once-in-3 month free medical checkup. Through the program, they teamed up with Jouvy who eventually came up with several breakthroughs in solving the communities’ problems through technology. Jouvy, who won a number of competitions related to his major, has created several public mobile applications to make people’s lives better, take for instances, disaster alert and hospitals finder (Rumah Sakit Jakarta) apps. Since then, we have been involved in several community development projects concerning health and nutrition awareness. One of our big projects was The Healthy Community Movement. It gathered NGOs, doctors, nutritionist, volunteers to help raise awareness of healthy lifestyle to hundreds of inhabitants living in poor environment and underdeveloped conditions. We witnessed how these people do not consume highly-nutritious food. Getting involved with the poor people opened our eyes that we need to take real action to solve similar problems, especially food security. TFF challenge triggers us to make real changes in solving the problem as Indonesia’s dependency on rice as the main staple food brings urgency for the national food security. Moreover, our country still has a high number of stunted and malnourished children. Accordingly, a significant solution is needed to reduce the rice dependency and malnutrition that will hinder the goal of feeding 9+ billion people by 2050. Therefore, we strive to find an innovation in substituting rice with breadfruit as the staple food made into nutritious porridge. We then come up with our product: Soo-Koon. Additionally, Diana, who is an active entrepreneur, has the experience in analyzing the real marketing strategy of Soo-Koon. Jouvy’s critical and logical thinking will contribute in analyzing our product in-depth. He will also expand our target market by creating website and mobile application to ease consumers in reaching our product. Furthermore, Soulaya’s public speaking skill and experiences in involving with public and private institutions will help in marketing the product. She will engage more communities to consume it and become loyal customers. Soo-Koon will be our next contribution to the society concerning food security which will help more people to have healthier lifestyle. We will always stick to the mindset of Arthur Ashe’s inspiring words of "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can” to make the world a better place.
