To Increase Food Production with smallholder farmers by Growing Crops throughout the year using available Solar water Pump Technology

By using the available Solar water pump systems which could pump water at a rate of 4600litres per hour smallholder farmers in the rural could be growing crops throughout the year unlike agriculture which depends on rain thereby increasing food production in the current and future generation to come.

Grazing areas of livestock could be irrigated by the above technology and have enough grass to feed animals.

The above solution will mean able to mitigate the challenge of drought as the pumps could be used to pump underground water of up to 90 meters depth.

The above solution could make smallholder farmers in the rural have
-Continuous supply of water to poor/vulnerable
-Reduce water borne diseases by supply of clean and safe water
- Reduce time of girl children and women of looking for water from distant places
- Reduce the cost of water supply using solar energy technology
- Encourage entrepreneurship of gardening businesses for youths because of continuous supply of water

To encourage smallholder farmers to grow the crops, guaranteed market should be provided at the local rural level. This will motivate smallholder farmers in the rural to increase production throughout the year and concentrate on farming as source of income unlike cutting of trees for charcoal for sell which increase deforestation which affect the climate change.

The Team will comprise of Mr. Chaka Ng'ambi, Mr. Bright Subeti and Ms Mavis Chiyambi Creating value for stockholders and prospering with the rural community by increasing the income levels of poor rural households involved in production, value addition and trade of agricultural commodities while carrying out sustainable profitable agribusiness which satisfies all stakeholders.

Our Background

We are participating in this challenge to provide solution of food in the current and future and to develop necessary capacity to solve new climate change challenges in agriculture. To acquire knowledge and skills required to run the agribusiness enterprise to meet current and future agricultural challenges and food security by being able to design business models which will help smallholder farmers in rural areas manage natural resources as well as formulating innovative business plans that work for the enterprise while meeting rural community expectations and all stakeholders. To increase the volume of food production and value of agribusiness based on the output of smallholder farmers in rural areas. To explore practical options available, design and develop new systems to meet expectations of smallholder farmers in rural areas in the solution of climate change in agriculture so that there is enough food for them and to meet quality and quantity expectations of bulk buyers and processors of crops. Visioning, building new business models and coming up with innovations to meet current and future agricultural challenges, such as water, climate change, health, waste management, social stability, culture, food and income.
