MoMuRa Bar is a nutritional food bar made from Rice Bran, Moringa Leaves, and Mung Bean which can overcome hunger and good for human health

Use Case

MoMuRa Bar is kind of food bar was made from rice bran, moringa leaves, banana, and mung bean flour that have high and complete nutrition. MoMuRa Bar can be used to alternative food to reduce hunger and malnutrition in the world especially for developing countries who need high nutrition food with low cost, and made from materials that have not been used widely in food sector so that will not compete with others kind of foods. MoMuRa Bar can be consumed for all people above 2 years old.

Potential

The materials used to make MoMuRa Bar is rice bran where each year, 63 to 76 million tons of rice bran produced in the world. It has been Recognized excellent source nutrition like protein, fiber, minerals, vitamins, and protein. Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrition Because moringa leaves rich with nutrition, Moringa leaves are spread in the world and easily in cultivation. Banana and mung bean flour to cover the aftertaste of rice bran and moringa powder, and increase of nutrition value. Therefore MoMuRa Bar can be used as an alternative food from material which easy to get in the world and rich nutrients, so MoMuRa Bar can be a solution to reduce hunger in the world,especially in developing countries

Business Case

Innovation: Complete nutrition in one meal using rice bran as the main ingredient that has not been widely used in the food sector. Product excellence of MoMuRa Bar, which has a high calorie equal to one medium-sized sweet bread with 2 tablespoons of the chocolate jam, so the calorie needs fulfilled by consume this product. Promotion and distribution: by websites, online advertisement, and social media. To introduce product and attract consumers we held social project: give away for free MoMuRa Bar to several require area and offer discount for consumer especially for social project. We will open two kinds of store. (1)Offline store: Stand, cooperative partnership at campus and school, distribution to mini market and grocery. (2) Online store: Instagram, Facebook, BBM, Line, Whatsapp.

Objectives:

  1. As an alternative food that suitable for all age and gender above 2 years old to solve the require of food that increasing in the world
  2. Reducing hunger in the world by utilizing MoMuRa Bar as complete nutritional source of cheap, tasty, and practical food bar
  3. Increase the utility and economics value of rice bran and moringa leaves that rich nutrition, which previously have not been optimized

2. Food security issue has been particular concern lately. One of the best solution of this issue is by utilize untapped source of food like rice bran. Rice bran and moringa is great source of food because it has many benefit but these ingridients has bad aftertaste. Adding banana puree to cover rice bran and moringa bad aftertaste in this food bar is great idea but during the processing, banana flavor will be reduced. My suggestion is you could add artificial flavor if you want the foodbar taste better. Another thing to concern is the sustainability of the ingridients. I’m sure as long as people eat rice, rice bran will always be avaliable.

Our Mission

We are four students from three different universities in Indonesia. Together we are trying to solve food problem by our knowledge from university. Our goal is to create innovation of food with science and technology. So there is no famine in the world.

Our Background

We are four students from three different universities in Indonesia. Two of us are food science and technology students of Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta and the other two are a pharmacy student of Institute Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Bandung and a chemistry student of Universitas Indonesia (UI) in Depok. We are participating in this challenge because we want to give a fresh and unique idea to help feeding 9 billion people in the world with our knowledge from university. So people get healthy and affordable food easily.
