Sowing Possibilities, Reaping Happiness

Connecting farmers with investors, equipment & young agro students and overcoming agricultural illiteracy & exploitation of middle men.

Use Case

Goni Miah has 2 bighas (0.32 hectares) of inherited land. Sensing the start of new rice season, he invested his precious land to cultivate rice. He financed much of his cost through a loan he had taken from a local NGO which charged a hefty 11% interest. But he was to receive a huge blow. Firstly Goni Miah’s land proved inappropriate for cultivating rice. A prior soil test would have revealed that his land was more apt for cultivating jute. Secondly the rice that was harvested failed to fetch him even the government set price due to exploitation of the middle men. This combined with the burden of an interest charge further pushed Goni Miah to the lapses of poverty. The story of Goni Miah is not unique- rather it is a common set of events encountered by farmers in this region.

Potential

Green Cube ensures access of right tools, technology to farmers and provide them with technical know-how from agricultural students. Besides, the effective wiping off of middlemen through selling through GreenCube could enrich farmers’ lives in ways unimaginable as they will be able to finally earn their fair share of price. Investors could earn around 18.6% roi on average, paving the way for more investors to invest and begin a cycle. We believe GreenCube can create an agro revolution in Bangladesh. It can increase 15-20% of our total production nationally. Globally it has the scope of enhancing 30% food production each year, which could feed 150 more million people each year. The possibility is endless.

Business Case

Green Cube is an attempt to connect the missing dots among farmers, investors and consumers. It is an integrated platform that will provide farmers technological support, forecasts, and financial support with absolutely zero interest. It will also downsize the number of middlemen and streamline the whole distribution process by purchasing directly from the farmers. Farmers get a maximum of whopping 64% rise in revenues, and so would our investors get a 16.8% return on investment. We’ll keep only a small margin of the revenue depending on our contribution. We will also try to change the scenario of the exploitative distribution system of our country. As a result it will minimize loss of the farmers, increase productivity and offer non-adulterated good-quality food to the consumers.

Objectives:

  1. 1. Empowering farmers by providing proper agricultural knowledge and the right equipment.
  2. 2. Engaging the young farming minds by creating a platform to implement different farming techniques.
  3. 3. Eliminating the exploitation of farmers by the middlemen and their use of harmful preservatives.

Our Mission

Create a sustainable system where even you and I can help our hard-working farmers to get equipped with up-to-date technologies and efficient farming techniques. Even in this era, most farms in Bangladesh are limited to buckrackes, farm trucks, cotton pickers and other machineries of the mid twentieth century. The farming techniques also lag behind the Western World’s counterparts. Farms tend to be located in rural, distant places forcing agricultural products to come through several middle-men to get to city, depriving the farmers of a reasonable profit. The problems are multifaceted and diverse. But our initiative, GreenCube, attempts to face all these problems head-on. GreenCube wants to ensure that money is no longer an obstacle for the arduous farmers from using those machineries they never imagined of. And with surge in internet use in every developing nations, neither should knowledge be centered to a small group. Be it knowledge of what efficient farming techniques are, or where the new markets for an agricultural commodity is.
