Co-creative solutions from women and from the South

I think this is a big opportunity to evidence the work that people from the Global South countries do to co-create a better world for all. I want to applied this perspective in the tourism industry.

Our Mission

Develop co-creative solutions to feed people living on vulnerable situations in the Global South countries.

Our Background

I am from Ecuador, Latin America. Since January 2015 I have been studying a Ph.D. at the School of Environment and Sustainability in the University of Saskatchewan Canadá. My research is about link food sovereignty and tourism development in Ecuador. I am learning from the Sustainability Science and Transdisciplinary approach the importance to create solutions to the current problems that face the humanity through the participation of scientists, governments, but mainly local communities. The last April 16, Ecuador was affected by a terrible earthquake. This disaster mostly affected to coastal areas where tourism had been the main economy income. I realized that this tourism model of development had been create a rapid urbanization around the coast areas. This growth was not well done and made the communities vulnerable because peasants and small farmers left the fields to find a job in the tourism resorts. Now, these farmers are living in refugee camps with no work neither a land to grow their own food. Currently, I am working in Ecuador as university professor in the school of sustainable tourism. My goal is to develop research projects that find the best way that the tourism industry can restore after the earthquake but now in a more sustainable way. Based on my Ph.D. research, I propose that a crucial strategy is develop tourism growth that respect the food security of locals. I have a team of 5 teachers, 4 students, and 2 members of affected communities. they are interested to learn more about my proposal and applied in their actions. My role is teach them how to develop research and action at the same time. I am using the community-based research and the transdisciplinary approach. I think my research is focusing in an specific problem and proposing co-creative solutions. I hope you are interested to support this great project which is carried out only for women.
