RecyclEeat: turning problems into solutions.

RecyclEat is the healthiest-environmental friendy way to eat a snack.

RecyclEat solves 3 problems (food shortage, obesity and food waste) helping food security, access and availability with a snack.

Use Case

Chile has 7.800 km long, including deserts, mountains, islands, antarctic and open ocean. This means our landing surface isn't all over the country. It's really hard to achieve food security, specially when there are earthquakes and volcano eruptions, which block the highways. We think it would be useful to transport healthy food when it's hard to transport fresh food because of the distances and costs. Latinamerica is still fighting against hunger, poverty and access to food. In the other hand, we have almost 80% of overnutrition in our population. So, our users won't be just the people who can't reach or afford these food, but also people who care about their health.

Potential

We waste one third of the food we produce, and almost a third of the population suffers from lack of food or undernutrition. We offer a new and radical solution: to stop food waste by retrieving this nutritious food -which today would go to waste- back into the food chain. Chile is a fruit and vegetable producer country, only considering Santiago, our capital city, we waste more than 100.000 tonnes annually, and this is just in open markets. There is no healthy snack that allows people get the whole nutritional value as you get in a fresh fruit or vegetable. In addition, Chile is the latinamerican country that consumes more snacks in the region. We want this food to reach the mouths of people wherever they are.

Business Case

We are taking the food waste of the agricultural industry back into the food chain by producing a snack that lasts longer than a fresh vegetable but still has all the nutrients. We are inventing a new process that preserves the vitamines, taking only their water away. This extends its useful life and allows it to remain as nutritious as fresh food. We will sell this snacks B2B and B2C.

Objectives:

  1. We will contribute to feed more people with healthy food.
  2. We will contribute to reduce food waste and its environmental and social effects.
  3. We will contribute to food security.

Our Mission

RecyclEat is a start up that aims to decrease the food waste and the environmental impact that the farming industry reaches by using this remainings through the creation of new healthy natural snacks that keeps the nutrients of fresh food. This reflects our commitment with nutrition, health and life quality of the population.

Our Background

By the year 2.050 FAO expects that the food production increases 70%, but there will be no more cultivable lands, because of increase population and erosion. Thats why we created a new way of avoiding food waste by solving two problems: environmental waste and human health (healthy and reachable snacks). We believe that we can reverse this food shortage creating an advantage out of it.
