We use the palm oil waste to preserve the fish

Sufficient, means sustainable fish effcient product

We use fish as a primary product, which contain high-protein. For the preservation, we use the palm oil waste and edible coating for it.

Use Case

First, we determine the amount of fish that we want to distribute for each day. Second, we do the sortation of all, to make sure that the fish which we want to send to the consumers is a good fish that still has a good quality from itd colour, smell, texture, and other patameters. Next, after we select some of them, we package it for each fish, into edible coating and palm oil solid waste. We use palm oil solid waste because in Indonesia, Palm oil is one of the plants that have a big potential to be developed, from the shell, CPO, etc. So we think that this is the big chance for us to use its solid waste as our packaging system, since we knew that it can preserve the fish itself. Therefore, we utilize this kind of waste as a package instead of making the big amount of waste in Indonesia

Potential

We think that our concept will change the world in 2050 because we believe that a product that has a high-protein, can overcome the hunger and healthy to be consumed by customers. We are not only care to the customers, but we also realize that we habe to save our earth by hminimizing the waste. Therefore, we use the waste of palm oil, and edible coating packaging in our product, to minimize the result of waste in this earth. Ee also believe that in this world, the ratio of ocean is bigger than the land, so we think that it is also a big potential for us to use this chance, and use the fish as one of the marine products, so we believe that we can get thos product easily. We also believe that our packaging system is environmentally friendly for uz

Business Case

Besides minimizing the waste result to save our earth, by using the palm oil solid waste, we also believe that we can minimize the cost. Moreover, Indonesia is one of the biggest peoducer of palm oil, so we think that we can get it easily with affordable cost. So , the things that included the cost calculation is a fish, the edible coating, and the distribution cost. We also can corporate with the fisherman in Indonesia, and also eith the supplier of the palm oil. Enrich the link and networking, we think it will be a good idea to prevent the high cost

Objectives:

  1. Our objective is to prevent the hunger problems, feed people, utilize some potential goods
  2. Saving the environment and our earth by using the palm oil solid waste and edible coating packaging in our product
  3. We want to utilize the big chance of ocean ratio that bigger than the land, so that we can receive our product easily

Be Careful Towards A Dangerous Fish Preservative Method

Fish is one of the marine product which has a good nutrient such as high protein, thiamin, riboflavin, Vitamin A and D, and many more. This kind of product should be in the cold storage to prolong the shelf-life and to keep its quality. However, there is a misuse preservative towards the fish, such as the used of formaldehyde preservation, which is very dangerous for us, and it should not be put in the food product. The used of formaldehyde itself can cause a complication to our body, and the impact is the emergence of disease. Moreover, we think that ice preservation also not the exact preservative method, because there is a possibility to appear some bacteria or pathogen in the ice itself, which can make a contamination to the fish. So that's what we mean by an unhealthy preservative method. Therefore, we choose and utilize the palm oil solid waste as our preservative technology.

Why We Use Palm Oil As Our Raw Material?

Based on data in FAO from 2008 - 2012, Indonesia reach the first position as the biggest country in ASEAN which produce the palm oil. According to FAO, palm oil can grow well in tropical areas with daily temperature about 20 degrees celsius as long as 24 hours, and it has growth period more than 270 days each year. There are some regions in Indonesia which have a potential to produce the palm oil. They are Riau, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, Jambi, and West Kalimantan. In 2013, there are 10,1 million hectares of palm oil with the production amount is about 27,74 tons and they have an average growth until 11,9% each year. We realize and we do support zero-waste to save the environment!

SUFFICIENT FAQ (Frequently Asked Question)

So, I will respond the questions which coming from my friends that usually asked about this question. Check it out!

[Why Must Fish?]
We believe that every country in this world has a frontier towards the sea. Moreover, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, the land-to-water ratio on Earth is about 29% land to 71% water. That's why we want to utilize one of these marine products. In addition, as we know that fish is cheaper than meat, and a fish also has some good content nutrition, such as thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin A and D, and the most important is high protein.

[How can you guarantee that the fish which you want to distribute to the people around the world is still fresh?]
We use the shell of palm oil as raw material, to preserve the fish. This shell will be taken and combine with liquid smoke technology. This kind of liquid fume will be used as the fish layer. Therefore, we can still distribute the fish at a good condition to the people in the world, because the preservation technology is already there.

[Who can consume this product?]

Our Mission

We have a vision and some missions. Our vision is to sustain the food security in 2050 to prevent starving, hunger, and suffering by fish product as sustainable and universal food, and our missions are: increasing the food quality and quantity by giving fresh fish product and its preservative technology, developing the efficient technology towards food processing by use the palm oil solid waste as the rae material, facilitating people to meet their necessity in terms of access to get the food by dsitributing a fish in each country In 2050, crop pests and pathogens will spread to warmer, drier areas where they haven’t been a problem before. According to the U.S Geological Survey, the land-to-water ratio on Earth is about 29% land to 71% water, so that we will use the sea natural resources as maximal as possible, and we choose fish as our product. Fish is one of the foods which contains high-protein. Protein sources that are nutrient-rich and lower in saturated fat and calories. This fish will be preserved with palm oil solid waste. It’s because Indonesia reaches the first position as the biggest country in ASEAN which produce the palm oil. The palm oil solid waste consist of 33,52% hemicellulose, 38,52% cellulose, 20,36% lignin, 3,68% extractive substance dan 3,92% dust. It will be used for making a liquid smoke in terms of preservative. Liquid smoke is produced by condensing wood smoke created by the pyrolysis of sawdust or wood chips followed by removal of the carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The main products of wood pyrolysis are phenols, carbonyls and organic acids which are responsible for the flavor, color and antimicrobial properties of liquid smoke. It has potential for use as an all-natural antimicrobial in commercial applications where smoke flavor is desired. We also use the edible coating for the packaging system, and it will be combined with pectin. The purpose of edible coating is to increase product quality, extend the shelf-life, and improve food safety. Pectin has been reported as one of the main raw materials to obtain edible films by its natural abundance, low cost, and renewable character. Our goal is, we want to create the sustainable food which has a long-term access. Then, regarding to the name of our brand, it called "SUFFICIENT", it means that we will provide the food product as much as is needed to people around the world.

Our Background

We want to participate in this challenge because we aware that society will need an assistance in 2050 to fulfill their food needs. As an agent of change, it’s time for us to show up our ideas to be implemented in real life, especially for the future world. As we know, food is a crucial thing which should be there to fulfill human needs. However, we can see that there are some people who still in poverty condition, having the hardship to get an access in terms of food, and lack of getting high-quality food. Then we don't want that poverty or other trouble will limit us to achieve some high-quality food. We want to prevent the emergence of hunger, starving, and food insecurity in the future because we realize that food is the important thing that has to be fulfilled from the first beginning. So we would like to end of those troubles by providing a fish product which becomes a universal food that can be useful for 9 billion people in 2050. We do not only care about the obstacles in terms of food, but we also care about our Earth condition in the future. Therefore, we use the palm oil solid waste to minimize the amount of waste, save the environment, and support zero waste system.
