Digital water efficient irrigation tool

Our system is equipped with a Soil moisture sensor that regulates and monitors water in the soil. If the soil moisture falls below the required minimum, the soil moisture sensor will detect this and immediately trigger the electronic gate valve to open and start irrigating the crops. As this is done, an SMS is sent to the farmer informing him of the current activity in the greenhouse. Once the water level in the soil is back to the required state, the soil moisture sensor then sends impulses to shut of the valve. Once off, irrigation stops and the farmer receives an SMS notifying him of the completed irrigation. The system is also automatic in that it can be set to irrigate the crops at predetermined time intervals leaving the farmer to concentrate on other activities in the greenhouse such as weeding and pruning.. This greatly improves water conservation as irrigation is only done at the required time and is accurately measured by the soil moisture sensor. Unlike the norm where the farmer has to be there every morning and evening to open the valve and approximates when the soil is wet enough to allow him/her to close it, this is now being done by a soil moisture sensor which is more accurate and precise with 0 human input

Our Background

Mr. Lunyiliko W. Komba is heading the business idea for the past 2 years.He has worked with banks for 6 years as as Business Support and Planning Manager. He holds CPA (T) module E and a B .Com degree from University of Dar es salaam. Mr Lufingo P Sadiki,the chief operating officer , experienced for more than 8 years working as an Network administrator and later IT manager, he manages operations and runs the company with great sense of business acumen. He holds MCDBA, CCNA, Dip in IT from University of Dar es salaam. The director of Finance of the company is Mr. Mohamed Sheuya, BBA from University of Dodoma experienced for more than 4 years in Accounting and having served as accounting officer and supervising/site manager will be a valuable planning and budgeting tool for the company and its going concern. Mr Sebastian Kyengula is the company’s chief technical and marketing officer who will oversee the latest pursuits in agri-tech.He holds B Eng in Civil Engineering from St Joseph University of Tanzania and experienced for more than 3 years , he has a proven ability of supervising field work, equipment maintenance and logistics, he has an engineering background and over 3 years experience in engineering consultancy, project environmental impacts assesment and management. In 2013 he worked with COWI (T) Ltd a consultancy firm in road and water projects ,2014 he worked at water department, Iringa district council, iringa for 10 months working on water supply scheme setting out and construction of water tanks, domestic points(dp) water intakes pipes laying and supports water distribution works water Laboratory tests water treatment.In late 2015 he joined wesra construction ltd to date engaged in construction of drip irrigation projects and affordable greenhouses ,drip lines laying and supports wooden greenhouses construction. Mr Twahilu Sheuya B.Sc. Civil Eng ,PGD Water Resources Development and Management is experinced for more than 20 years in engineering consultancy and will help the company in its course of day to day improvements in serving the rural communities as the intended target group enabling them be our consistent potential client base. He is a director at Don Consult Ltd an engineering consulting firm that has over eighteen years been actively engaged in the provision of Engineering services, project Management, and Construction and Contract Management Services, as well as Business Development Services in the following fields of specialisation: Water Supply and Sanitation,Water Resources Engineering and Management,Transportation Engineering,Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Structural Engineering.The company has a team of professional staff consisting of Economists, Sociologists, Civil Engineers, Environmental Engineers, Water Resources Engineers, Electromechanical Engineers, Instritutional and Financial Experts,Community Development, and Gender issues. It also enrolls short-term inputs from professionals in specialized fields on a case-to-case basis. We’ll later hire an agricultural extension Officer. We will all work full time if we’ll get funded for this distribution conceptual framework.
