Our Mission

Nowadays, peoples around the world are questioning and thinking wether they still able to eat or not in several years later, remembering that the population is increasing and the demand of human needs including food is must to be increased. We all worry. Some places in the world already face food crisis and the rest are preparing the strategy on welcoming food security. Moreover, food offered in the market are mostly not healthy, it contains dangerous chemical material, high cholestrol and sugar, bad handling and storage that may cause deadly disease. People ignores it because they only think on how to satiate themself with minimum prize in the middle of their busy schedule. They dont want to wait, they dont want to think hard about it, they cant. As global society, what can we do? Ofcourse, not sitting and waiting. Our team believes that we are able to create a future food product which satiate, healthy, and eco-friendly. We have a focus on feeding the whole planet, not only our neighborhood or in nation level, so we will provide product that can be processed in around the world based on availability of material and its easiness on processing. Realizing the high mobility in this era, we also want to offer a simple ready-to-eat product that easy to access and gain financially. People can eat our product over and over because it meets sensory acceptance of the world's taste and containing functional components to promote them into a healthy life. Different with most of product in trhe modern market, we have a concern for not to worsening the environmental problem by solving on how it will produce less waste. The product of our dream is SOLINA Bread, and it will be real soon. SOLINA Bread made by sorghum with addition of Spirulina sp. Sorghum is the 5th most important grain crop after wheat, maize, rice and barley. its easy to grow and can be planted in most of world countries (Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries Africa, 2010). Sorghum has chemical composition and nutrition that nearly similar with wheat (Colas, 1994). It is source of carbohydrate for approximately 83% (dry basis) (Ahza, 1998). While Spirulina sp is microalgae with high protein content that easy to be absorbed and proved to give health benefits (Capelli and Gerald, 2010). Based on that fact, Sorghum and Spirulina can be processed into SOLINA Bread. It will develop the economical value of sorghum as the source of farmer's wealth and also utilize marine resource for increasing fisherman's standard of living. By advance marketing strategy, it may provides wider market share. Furthermore, we hope the producing of SOLINA Bread will solve the food crisis in the world.

Our Background

Our team's background is agriculture. Syuga is student of Food Science and Technology, Mila, Dea, and Chadijah are student of Agribusiness, while Shola is student of Agriculture Communication and Extension. We are reunite in the same organization named IAAS (International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences) where we join and made event to share and discuss about agriculture issues. Thats why everyday, we were challenged by questions "you are someone who understand agriculture, tell me what have you done for society? have you feed them? are farmers wealthy now?", and that is how we get so much disturbance on our heart about our contribution. We feel that we are responsible on it. We have high interest on agriculture because it has big role for the world, especially providing food. Food is a matter of dead and alive. Every human needs food at least once a day but the reality right now, 1 in every 8 people around the world go to sleep hungry with no choice but to dream about food, every 30 seconds 6 children died for hunger related diseases. They have no choice, but we do. TFF Challege is a great opportunity for people, including our team, to share their ideas to give solution for feeding 9+bilion peoples and this challege also support the Sustainable Development Goals. Through TFF Challege, our team want to share our idea for saving our planet. We think its not only about feed us, feed our family, feed our nation, but its more about feed this planet by helping the world on having proper developed food.
