Padism (Paddy Farmers Tourism)

Fighting Consumerism Through Tourism

Tourism site in farming land to attract crops investor that will fight landbuyers

Use Case

We categorized Padism’s target user into 3. Farmers, tourist and investors. Farmer’s user case: For them to be able to resist the offer from landbuyers, Padism has 2 money-generating solutions which is tourism and investors. Not only they will get extra income, but also receive new skills and information from experts about farming and entrepreneurial so that they could run the program by themselves and their product’s quality and tourism site also meets tourist and investor’s standard. Tourist’s user case: Everyone that needs a break from their stressful routine. We also emphasize on teenagers since they could expose the movement. Investor’s user case: We offer a wide range of investments, so everyone can join. Even ordinary people that wanted to plant but has no place to grow.

Potential

Farming land transformation happens all over the world. Impacting the decrease of food production that will then force government to burn forest to create another farming site that will then be bought again and etc, which is ridiculous. So why not maintain those farming land by creative and effective idea? By Padism, we’re conserving farming land and food production while also empowering farmers and create prototype so they could run the tourism site when we’re not there again. Since the problem’s everywhere and the program is so simple and attractive, it could be duplicated in any other places in the world! So let’s say, if we can maintain JUST one hectare of paddy field, for example, we can have 4,87 tons of rice in total Then how big the impact is if we can maintain more?

Business Case

There are 2 major income in Padism, through tourism and investors. Surely they have a different but correlated business model. For tourism, the demand would fluctuates related to lots of other factors. But since our first project is in Bali, the demand were always high. So we could easily raise the funding and spread the campaign. But we also did anticipate if the demand was low. Since we’ve engaged with lots of teenagers’ community, we will did it via social media. Once we’re well known and trusted enough, we’re going to launch an application that enables anybody who wanted to invest their own crops or just helping the environment by planting trees but lack place to grow, they could do it via app, transfer the money, monitor via app, then get the return! Interesting, isn’t it?

Objectives:

  1. Fight landbuyers to conserve farming land through tourism and investing
  2. Empower farmers by teaching new skills for tourism and as well as increasing the crop's quality to meet buyer's demand
  3. Raising social awareness about the existence of farm and its importance to food production

Our Mission

Padism is here to fight the landbuyers that wants to demolish agricultural land so that they could build skyscrapers and shopping avenue. We did it through tourism that will hopefully attract crop investors. The investors will then support farmers to grow crops sustainably and we could compete with the offer that the landbuyers have and maintain food production

Our Background

"Don't solve the whole problem, but solve the problem that's in front of you first" That's a really powerful and meaningful quotes. We focused on the problems that we encounter right now, first. Which is the decreasing of agricultural land that will eventually threaten the food supply. By what? Since we're teenagers, we decided to do the 'fun' part first, which is tourism and attract visitors. We pick the name "Padism" because Indonesia is filled with lots of endangered paddy field and we need to save them (even though this method is also applicable in other different farm type)
