Team SMART! A team centered on the distribution of knowledge. There are information and knowledge that need to be distributed to aid in the fight for Global Food Security. It is evident that the success of an emerging state relies strongly on its capacity to keep its population fed. The issue though lies in the availability of goods and the population's access to those goods. This topic stemmed from the review of The United Nations World Food Programme Policy Planning and Strategy Division publication that analyzed the link between food insecurity and conflict in which a correlation was established between food insecurity and global unrest. If people are hungry, they will do whatever they feel necessary to resolve that issue. Our mission is to provide resource tools to markets and producers in developing regions to reduce the level of nutritional uncertainty. By providing information relevant to food quantities and their distributions in regions, it is, therefore, possible to facilitate the movement of excess goods to areas in the region lacking. In turn solidifying the food security of the region, reducing food waste, and stabilizing market prices. With an agricultural foundation, the diverse group of graduate and undergraduate level students at Texas A&M University, have come together to aide in the fight for Global Food Security. The team, though young has been exposed to a multitude of cultures and events that have molded the team perspective. This perspective is accepting and understanding the concept of “The reductive seduction of other people’s problems.” The team does not presume to be capable of solving the issues of others but rather provide them with the knowledge and detail to work through them. There are various cultural and geopolitical underpinnings that limit the ability of a complete solution. Team SMART is not off to solve the grand problem. Team SMART is off to provide information for others with a greater understanding of their own problems to create smaller solutions that in turn have the potential to solve the greater issue. Team SMART understands the need for solutions but more so understands that solutions can only be reached if the right information is available. Therefore, Team SMART wants to focus on Servicing Markets by Allocating Resource Tools!
