Agrichot is an agricultural organisation aimed at alleviating poverty in the lives of smallholder households in Cameroon. We believe that smallholder households have the ability to lead poverty-free lives through farming. Therefore, we provide substantial support for smallholder farmers to cultivate more (year-round cultivation) and save more to uplift their families (alleviate poverty), and feed themselves and their communities (food security). Our Model is based on rethinking rural farming, maximizing income and saving for expansion.
We are a team of young entrepreneurial enthusiasts who look at our selves as change makers and problem solvers in our different societies through design thinking. We value diversity as a way of coming together to brainstorm on the innovative and creative ideas on how best we are to initiate the next generation of hunger free and poverty free lives of smallholder farmers in Africa. When we think about diversity, we think about our team as it is comprised of one Ugandan, one Congolese,One Zimbabwean, one Nigerian and two Cameroonians. We are therefore participating in this challenge because Agrichot and Thought For Food have the same goal of changing the world through ensuring food security. We would like to be a part of the greatest and brightest minds of change makers around the globe as we continue to curb down the problem of poverty and food insecurity among families.
We live in communities in which the problem exists. We grew up in families that face the challenges that we are trying to address, so we understand the people involved and how they are affected. We would therefore like to improve on what the farmers are doing right, eliminate what they are doing wrong and introduce what is lacking through climate smart agriculture. All this will happen if we stand with the right team like TFF in addition to the financial support and mentoring around the problems that we solve.
