Our mission is to ensure year round supply of water regardless of the climatic conditions of that particular area. Farmer suicide due to crop failures occurring as a result of changing climatic conditions and low rainfall are very common in South Asian countries especially India. Even though we are situated in the tropics, due to irregular distribution of rainfall and improper use of water, drought like situations are very common. We aim to bring about a change in the way water supply is done in fields across the subcontinent. Our technology aims to help farmers combat these issues and reduce stress on the water table.
We are a student team from VIT University, Vellore, India. We are a team of 2 and we are passionate about disrupting the way agriculture is practiced in the country. With the changes occurring in the planet we also need to change according to it and so does the methods of agriculture which is the sector providing billions of people with the most important thing, Food. Farmers comprise of about 60% of our population, farmer suicides are a very prevalent problem in our country and one of the main reasons is crop failure caused due to poor availability of water. Irrigation is an inseparable part of agriculture and currently ground water and rainfall are the most relied sources of irrigation and we plan on ensure no farmer suffers any losses due to lack of availability of water for irrigation purposes.
We aim to develop a low cost drip irrigation system which will be powered by a inexhaustible source of water- THE MOISTURE IN THE AIR.
