We are passionately determined on making healthy food and natural medicine affordable and accessible in Puerto Rico.
Our team’s vision is to transform the rapidly increasing abandoned real estate industry into urban farms by incorporating sustainable sourced bamboo hydroponic systems to these structures. As an attempt to decrease exports of goods and increase food security on our Island without compromising the countryside. The crop’s produce will be sold initially to food trucks and small local restaurants but we plan on expanding and become one of the leading healthy and natural medicine food suppliers in P.R. for both personal and commercial use.
We are simply an entrepreneurship undergrad, a humanity major and a culinary student that found a common dream to help our island grow, economically, in a sustainable way.
We all have different passions and expectations for this project, such as: one wanting to disrupt the way food is produced, manufactured and distributed in the island; to another member wanting to inspire a healthier lifestyle in the country; and another making a boom in puertorrican gastronomy. But despite our different ambitions we’re all committed to grow, to learn; that's why we wanted to participate in this challenge. We believe it would be such an amazing learning experience to have the opportunity to connect with a global community of people with similar mindsets and share ideas.
In the meanwhile, we’re taking university courses that will help us with our project, attending workshops, getting feedback from experienced farmers on our prototypes, seeking mentorships in professors and business owners, talking with our potential customers to understand what they truly need and want, and searching for possible partnerships with non-profits to get volunteers to help us grow. We really want to make Borinken Towers a community project that a lot of people from different background and ages can get involved in, like we did.
