CULTIVANDO FUTURO is a platform that provides key info about: production, commerce, offer and demand, matching the key actors in the chain.

Use Case

Pedro is a farmer that uses the platform of Cultivando Futuro to find new buyers to his produce and sell his crops in advance. He also knows what to grow based in market's behavior. Etniko is an exportation company that find suppliers to their needs in fruits as their international buyers demand. Rionegro is a municipality in Colombia that uses the platform to coordinate their development plans and use agro-date as guidance for the development of the region's produce. All this actors can use the information provided by the platform to improve their businesses and find suppliers, buyers and coordinate their efforts.

Potential

80% of the world's food is produced by families of farmers, but unfortunately they are the most exposed to unfair trade by middle men and speculation of the markets. By opening a new channel of commercialization and easy data analysis of the production and market behavior, all the supply chain actors can improve their productivity and reduce food waste, taking better decisions based in data. Imagine the impact that our platform can have in both sides of the chain, from producers to all the people that is fed by farmer's produce.

Business Case

Today, organizations are starting to operate the platform, paying a fee for the development of the farmer's communities they're in charge. Also farmers pay a fee of 1USD per month to upload their crops and make their offers.

Objectives:

  1. Improve the efficiency of the food supply chain by connecting all the key actors so they can take better decisions based in data
  2. Open up new channels for direct trading to farmers, so they can access to better market opportunities
  3. Create the first agro-commerce platform that can guide the industry through Big data analysis and Open data visualization

Our Mission

We are a team of AgroTech specialists that is looking to disrupt the commercialization in the Agroindustry with massive fair trade, global visibility of farmer's produce, so they can make better trading decisions based in data. Achieving this we can improve millions of famer's families.

Our Background

We started our company 3 years ago, while a farmer's stroke here in Colombia, the were trying to protest against unfair deals and for better conditions for them and their families. This inspired us to use technology so we can create a better channel of commercialization and provide the key actors in the supply chain with information so they can make better decisions, access to a network of customers and to a better economic profit while avoiding unnecessary middle men. We are participating in this challenge because we want to take part of the change in agroindustry and while we had won some entrepreneurship competitions, we believe that Thought for Food can connect us with specialists in the sector with whom we can establish alliances to connect our companies and achieve a broader impact in the food supply chain.
