Merging Humanitarian and Development Aid
It is a disaster preparedness & relief invention that provides nutritive food, communications & knowledge access for displaced people
In 2017 during a catastrophic season, 3 major hurricanes, hit the Caribbean region back to back displacing hundreds of Thousands of families. Many have not yet fully recovered with the next season drawing near.Despite the destruction many communities collaborated for benefit of all, immediately following the disaster having experience with hurricanes as a chronic problem As social entrepreneurs already working in human centered fields we understand that solutions work from the ground up. Building on such user experience and mapping out the timeline of the recovery period shows that food access & human well being are among the top priorities during relief efforts . These issues worsen over time, leading a lengthy recovery period. Therefore we have designed The ARK -Agri Recovery Kit
Our kit has global applicability for any disaster natural or man made. Given its customizable nature it can suit a multitude of markets. A key part of our design is the inclusion of mobile devices which will be preloaded knowkedge videos - This is social video centred around indigenous knowledge, other social inventions or survivial practices. These videos are created on the ground where disasters take place and are entirely centerd around the users need, Our concept puts people first in the face on the face of disasters and supports their well being.
The kit is low cost with it’s contents (primarily farm inputs and knowledge videos) being locally sourced. Ark is built upon sustainability practices, in social & cultural preferences, nutritional factors, as well as location & country specifics. Our model merges humanitarian and development aid. It allows a multitude of revenue streams as a customizable commercial product for disaster preparedness but also as a complementary outlet for relief agencies or recovery support groups.

To aid in the recovery process for disaster hit areas by ensuring access to sustainable food and support to human well being
We are a group made up of a gardener, 2 farmers, an agri journalist, and one nutritionist, all based in Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica. We are Caribbean and we are entrepreneurs. Given the recent destruction caused by hurricanes Irma, Bret and Maria the reality of how difficult it takes to recover from such disasters became everclear. Our project tackles the issue directly finding a solution to a place where there are only problems and chronic ones at that!
