The golden seeks to reduce food losses in homes that cannot afford refrigerators for preservation of food. Golden aims at designing a food storage container that can be used to preserve food that is already cooked but not consumed as a way of reducing food wastage. This technology targets developing countries were the costs of electricity are high and most people cannot afford expensive food preservation equipment.
In Uganda, people cook lots of food not because they are extravagant, but because the culture encourages people to cook food in large amounts. To create a solution to this food wastage problem by making ecofriendly food containers that can be used to store food for five days without spoilage and does not require electricity. This challenge is a platform to share and get more ideas on how to improve this technology hence creating a solution to food wastage.
