What did people think about our product?

Here it is, one of our interview activities to know some issues about the lack of protein consumption that happened in society. The photo above is one of our member while interviewing a housewife named Mrs. Hana about her consumption on beef and its high price. We also introduced Feedento and ask her what she thinks about the product

Comparison of Nutritional Content between Ordinary Corned Beef Products with Feedento

Here is a comparison of nutritional content of ordinary corned beef products with Feedento.
From the table, can be known that the nutrient content found in Feedento is not much different and even higher in some components when compared with the nutrients found in ordinary corned beef. Where Feedento products contain 138 kcal of energy (FAO, 2013), 8.9-19.94 grams of fat, and 13.68-22.32 grams of protein (Grau et all, 2017), less than 20 μg of retinol, less than 100 μg beta-carotene (FAO, 2013), 0.1-4 mg of thiamine, 0, 47 μg of vitamin B12, 62 grams of water, and 18 grams of fiber for every 100 grams of material (Kouřimská and Adámková, 2013). Meanwhile other corned beef products contain 241 kcal of energy, 25 grams of fat, 16 grams of protein, 0.01 mg of thiamine, and 53 grams of water for every 100 grams of material (Fauziyah dkk, 2017). INSIGHT+INSIGHT+INSIGHT 3

Feedento will be able to compete with other corned products that using beef as their raw material on the market. One of the advantages of feedento is having a cheaper price compared to other corned beef product. From the diagram above, can be known the cost analysis of each products based on raw materials. The main raw material of feedento is mealworm which has a price of Rp30.000 /kg. Meanwhile beef has a price of Rp.110.000/kg which is used as the main raw material of corned beef in general. Other than that, feedento is also made from other supporting materials such as oregano, rice, cassava flour, garlic, cinnamon, salt, water and chili powder. And corned beef using supporting materials such as water, salt, and sugar. The thing that can make the price of Feedento more cheap is a starter that can be used repeatedly because these microorganisms can be re-grown, meanwhile corned beef products requires chemical compound such as Natrium nitrate for curing process that if it used in large production will cause a fairly large expense.

Our Mission

The high price of foods, especially meat as a major source of protein is one of the biggest causes of high prevalence of malnutrition and stunting over the past few years. This is further exacerbated due to lack of facilities and access locations that are difficult to reach cause the shelf life of meat to be shorter. The mission of our team is to create an affordable, accessible, high-productivity product to meet the needs of protein sources for 9 billion people by 2050

Our Background

Food security that have been a prolonged problem in many developing countries nowdays, and the lack of understanding & acceptance of new source of protein food poses a challenge for us to creat a new breakthrough to engage people to consider new sustainable source of protein. Our team consists of 5 people from faculty of Agricultural Technology of Brawijaya University with various study program such as Food Technology, Biotechnology, and Agroindustrial Technology
