Food Live Project (FLP)

It's time to not waste.

Food Live Project (FLP) is a project combining three concepts: food waste management, food donation, and food waste campaign.

Use Case

Nearly 20 million people in Indonesia go to bed hungry every night. Yet, Indonesia is also the second largest food waster in the world, binning about 300 kg of foods per person each year. This is due to lack of food availability, imbalanced food distribution, and unutilized food waste. The availabilities of food in restaurants, retails, and high demand people are so abundant. But, there is still problem in distribution. Not all of people and areas, especially poor people and remote areas are reachable and accessable to get the foods for their nourishment. This situation can affect the increasing of the amount of food waste resulted to the environment. Many food wastes are just thrown away by most of people. Although, food wastes can be utilized to be high value products.

Potential

Food Live Project (FLP) is a project combining three concepts: food waste management, food donation, and food waste campaign which educate how to manage food waste. Food waste literally has two categories, they are edible portion (for human) and unedible portion. The edible portion of food waste can be processed as a food for needy people. FLP team connects food producers and retails to hungry and needy people by food donation program. The unedible portion can be utilized for natural compost, animal feed, and even as a potential material of biodegradable plastic. With this project, no more people get hungry and no more foods are wasted.

Business Case

Food Live Project is a social entrepreneurship based system. FLP hires volunteers from passionate youth to execute food donation program. It is targeted at the poor people and remote areas. FLP earn revenue through direct sales of side products such as natural compost, animal feed, and biodegradable plastic which resulted by unedible food waste utilization. FLP need investments in technology based food distribution system from government subsidies, partnerships with local food producer or retail’s organizations and international organizations. By this investment, FLP will sustain the project to create easy access to supply foods for hungry and needy people, from small scale areas, to national areas within three years.

Objectives:

  1. Reduce food waste from post-harvest loss in food producers and over capacity in retails
  2. Increase food availability and balance food distribution to hungry and needy people
  3. Increase awareness of the importance of food waste management and utilization to people

Our Mission

Our team has missions to tackle food hunger through waste and food excess management and to make food spread effectively for hungry and needy people.

Our Background

Food Live Project team consists of people who cares about food for our sustainable life. We have 3 main concepts which are "Food Waste Management", "Food Donation", and "Food Waste Campaign". We think that the difference of food availability among people is affected by how the foods are distributed. Therefore, what we do is opening the access for food to anyone by food donation program and food waste utilization for sustainable environment.
