Farm Culture Africa

Transforming Smallscale Farming

We're in the business of transforming farming culture by availing modern farming methods to African smallscalers.

Use Case

Smallscale farmers in Africa use manual labor for 90% of their farm work, they have no proper method of keeping farm records and have no access to good markets/consumers as middlemen control market forces. Manual labor leads to poor yields and discourages most from venturing into farming, especially the youth. farmers here use guess work in farming instead of relying on available data to make informed decisions.

Potential

We will avail a blockchain app for the farmers to keep their farm records on and to engage direct with the market hence eliminating middlemen.Leading to farmers getting better market prices. We will avail modern Conservation Agriculture machinery and equipment to the farmers on a hire basis. This is to eliminate manual labor as farmers can't afford to own these machines, leading to high yields. With high yields, food will be easily available to the masses, farmers will have more to sell and with better market prices, they will get more income . This will lead to more people being attracted to farming, more land put under farming. All this leading to a happy, healthy and a prosperous world!!

Business Case

Hiring modern farm machinery to the farmers. This is capable of making USD200,000 in two years in our community only, Timau. Market players seeking to buy produce from our farmers via the app. Farm inputs manufacturers seeking to sell inputs to our farmers via the app.

Objectives:

  1. Increased yields from small scale farmers. Mechanization is proven to produce better yields than manual labor.
  2. Direct connection to the markets. Eliminating middlemen and empowering farmers to sell direct ti the market.
  3. Put more land under agriculture as most people here keep off agriculture due to the high costs of manual labor and poor prices.

Our Mission

To provide modern techniques and technologies to the small scale farmers for increased food production and their profitability leading to availability and affordability of food to all.

Our Background

Team members are all farmers in Timau. We were all brought up in the same village and by farming parents. Growing up and engaging directly in farming, we realized how farmers cant don't produce enough for our nation and people have to rely on aid. We're in this to change this, to enable mass production of food resulting to its availability and affordability.
