Poverty alleviation and food security in Africa

Improved chicken consumption and provide sustainable income for poultry farmers

Provide free impact poultry training, access to micro loans, markets, chicks, feed and vaccines to improved chicken consumption and income.

Use Case

Smallholder’s poultry farmers in Cameroon lack technical impact training's, access to micro credit and markets to sell their chickens when matured so as to increase their production for food security. Our platform thus https://www.pfms.cm/orders makes it possible for farmers to instantly access all they need from their farms while making payment via smart mobile money. Chicken consumers thus Hotels, restaurants, service traiteurs and individuals also connect to purchase their chickens which are delivered appropriately. We are making life easier and empowering women and youths to join the fight for food security which provide a sustainable income. We improve health through better nutrition while mitigating malnutrition in our communities and also Monitoring & Evaluating farmer’s farms.

Potential

With the increasing demand for quality protein source in human nutrition, chicken and chicken products play a great role. I intend to engage the full value chain in poultry farming by increasing impact training centers within Cameroon to train 3000 youths/women monthly. I foresee 70% of 3000 persons to engage in poultry farming making a total of 2100 persons. I encourage a poultry construction of 1000 capacity; this make a farmer becomes self-sufficient. 2100 farmer multiply by 12 months is 25,200 farmers added in fighting food security. Each farmer will produce 5000 chickens’ minimum annually making a total of 126,000,000 chickens. The number of farmers will increase drastically when they are equipped with skills, seed capitals and access to markets. Economic activities will also increase

Business Case

Our Business Model is Manufacturing, Bricks-and-clicks that has both online/offline presence and allows customers to pick up products from our physical stores while place orders online. Supplying Day old chick to a farmer, = +5% profits per chick. A 50kg bag of feed, = +20% profits. We have a fixed cost of $100 USD for consultation. For our interest free loan, we offer products in kind such as feed, poultry construction, crates, feeders and drinkers and make profits from these products. The loan is for a month, after which, we charge +1% of the amount. We charge a fee for delivery to farmers and consumers of chickens. A fee for farms registration with Government, making sure it meets standards. We offer free impart training to farmers. We sell fertilizer to grain and vegetable farmers.

Objectives:

  1. Improve productivity of smallholders through free impact training for food security in Africa via affordable quality animal feed and service
  2. Empower farmers to be financially viable and be responsible for increasing production via access to micro loans and markets for chickens
  3. Promote chicken consumption to mitigate malnutrition in urban and rural communities through better health care and nutrition in families.

Helps farmers manage their poultry, finances, provides access to market and also provide access to education by people paying tuition and other school needs using farm inputs they use in animal feed.

Transform poultry manure into biogas and organic fertilizers. The fertilizer is supplied to grain farmers at breakeven prices and in return, cheaper cost and regular supply of these grains for feed thereby minimizing production cost while combating soil degradation and climate change.

When farmers grow more food and earn more income, they are able feed to their families, send their children to school, provide for their family’s health, and invest in their farms. This makes their communities economically stronger and more stable.
