Sienitas stands for zero food waste! We started our mission with Brazilian mangos, papayas and bananas. After analysing WWF-Brazil and FAO data, we created a business model to reduce food waste throughout the value chain. Our solution focus on the stages of management, inventory, distribution and consumption. We developed a nano-sensitive label that provides basic information about fruits. When implemented, our labels will solve important market asymmetry.
We are three sisters who identified a business opportunity after analysing serious problems throughout Brazilian fruits value chain. According to WWF-Brazil data, about 55% of fruits are thrown away every year. One of the main factors that lead to this dramatic waste is lack of basic information, such as: Is this fruit ready for consumption? Until when can this fruit be consumed? Our nano-sensitive labels on fruits answers precisely these questions!
