Phone software for treating the diseased crops

With phone applications, we can tackle crops ruining diseases and pests

Intends to develop application in a mobile phone which can help farmers to treat diseases and pests that destroy staple crops in Rwanda.

Use Case

A farmer buys a phone with installed application called"AgrinfoTools".By clickin on "AgrinfoTools", a list of staple crops is displayed. By choosing irish potatoes, click on camera icon to capture a photo of a diseased part like leaves. By clicking on send and save, the sms containing all the following is displayed:i) True names of the pests and diseases, ii)Names of powerful pesticides iii) Accurate dosage of the pesticides iii)Min-max prices of the pesticides iv)Contacts of local sellers of the pesticides Click exit to finish.

Potential

Most of the farmers in world possess mobile phones.To equip the phones with agricultural information software, can significantly help farmers, of each continent to treat the diseases and pests of crops by themselves. All the information provided by this software can facilitate and encourage farmers, agricultural extension officers, researchers,etc to work in hand to tackle the diseases and pests. Thereby,food insecurity which is a serious problem today can be mitigated through this phone application.

We are participating in "Thought For Food Challenge 2018, because we care about food for people all the time.With our project entitled "AgrInfoTools" under this organization, we want to develop a phone software which shows in a single message to a farmer and other user, dose, price and seller of pesticide for the pests and diseases that ruin staple crops,while still in the fields in Rwanda.
