Magalarva (MGV)

What if we could turn our food waste back into food again?

Magalarva naturally bioconverts food waste into affordable and sustainable protein to be sold to animal feed makers.

Use Case

Magalarva works directly or through waste management companies with food waste producers such as catering, restaurants & hotels to deliver their food waste to Magalarva for free or later at an affordable price, then we bioconverts the food waste and then sold the end product to animal feed makers and farmers at an affordable price. We aim to decentralize the landfill system by building compact food processing facilities within the premises of businesses that produces substantial amount of food waste. Therefore there will be less transportation cost and less landfill retribution cost. Product users will indirectly help the environment by supporting well managed organic food waste and also not endorsing imported and overfishing product that are commonly sold in the industry right now.

Potential

Imagine if all the food waste than human produce could be turned into protein to be fed to our food again? it is no longer a linear connection but a circular closed loop cycle that is sustainable between consumption and waste. Magalarva aims to eliminate food waste, making the food industry a better economy and helping establishments to manage their food wastes properly. We aim to decentralize the landfill system by building compact food processing facilities within the premises of businesses that produces substantial amount of food waste. For every 10 food waste processing facility, there's one post processing facility to process the waste into protein and to be distributed for sales.

Business Case

We take organic food waste from our partner companies for free or later at an affordable price, bioconverts them into protein concentrate and organic fertilizer that we sold to animal feed producers and farmers at an affordable price. We tested our product to several animal feed producers in Indonesia and they are interested on our products. We also have a pending order for 1 ton/week of protein from Manggalindo which is the 5th biggest in Jakarta. There are in total of 2 million ton market in Poultry & Aquaculture feed to be replaced by our product, that's 1,3 Billion USD market (Rp 8.000/kg)

Objectives:

  1. Lowering the rank of Indonesia as the 2nd highest food waster in the world to outside the top 5 ranks.
  2. To replace 50% of products of overfishing in the animal farm feed industry by providing an affordable, sustainable & locally made substitute
  3. Decentralize the landfill system by building compact food waste processing facilities within businesses that produces food waste.
