With emphasis on the progressive realization of access to food and good nutrition as a human right, it has led to the birth of NutriCare Foundation. It’s a team of 4 young researchers (and all with bachelor’s degrees from University of Malawi) passionate to enhance food and nutrition security to the most vulnerable groups. Its core objective is to reduce child malnutrition as early as possible across life cycle and contribute to reduction of mortality rates.
The team recognizes that good nutrition helps children grow, develop, and learn better hence propose the development and production of High Protein and Energy Density Beverages from blends of yellow maize, millet and fortification using Moringa flower powder for School Aged Children. Protein-energy malnutrition has been noted to occur mostly at a crucial transition phase when children are weaned from liquid to semi-liquid foods. Awarded this grant will help us produce nutritious beverage.
