At Quelp we develop healthy frozen food based on chilean seaweed. Seaweed are a super nutritious resource, as a sea vegetable, and we want to promote their consumption through delicious and easy to prepare and consume foods. One of our fundamental pillars is the environmental and social sustainability, since we work directly with the seaweed collectors, through fair trade, and together with them we care about making a sustainable management of the natural seaweed meadows.
We are Alejandra and Alonso, and we had been working on this project since two years ago. We know each other in a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship, and from there we developed this project as a business that we have today in Chile. Our main motivations are that we are aware of the problem that will exist in the future in terms of food production for a world population that increases exponentially, and we believe that seaweed are the best resource to develop a new food industry based on them.
