Land is limited we have innovated the cages that are vertically coverage to accommodate large number of rabbits within a very small area.

Use Case

Rabbits has been reared for many years as a game animals and fun but later on reared for domestic meat consumption. Initially it was not given priority compared to beef, chicken, pork and mutton. It was considered less for commercial purpose but recently awareness has increased due to its health benefits. It is rich in protein, calories, vitamins, minerals and less in fat. Rabbit meat is advised to be a solution for many chronic diseases rather poultry, pork and beef. As per FAO livestock report of 2011, world rabbit meat production stood at 1,600,000 tones where as East Africa alone is a big market that remains under served. Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Congo have grown desire and appetite for rabbit meat.The plan ahead is to diversify value addition into Sausages, Kebabs and pies.

Potential

People will stay happier life because of feeding on rabbit meat that is full of protein,vitamins,energy, micro nutrient, very small amount of fat and no cholesterol.but also eliminating malnutrition of both types (protein-energy and micro nutrient. Lastly reducing unemployment problems especially in Africa.

Business Case

Model: Keeping rabbits and production them until they are many. followed with slaughtering smoking and pack in packages. Distributing the smoked meat to the hotels, local markets, supermarkets and exportation.Innovating the use of by products such as skin making shoes and urine / defecate as manure and pesticides for vegetable cultivation.

Objectives:

  1. Combat the issue of 75% high demand of meat as stated in FAO Report of 2011
  2. Creation of employment reducing Youth unemployment problems.
  3. Eliminate malnutrition both protein-energy and micro nutrients as well as preventing and curing chronic diseases such as lung cancer.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be the leading supplier of rabbit meat by the year 2050 and alleviate hunger both protein-energy and micro nutrient malnutrition as well as chronic diseases like Heart disease and lung cancer and reproduction problem. Also to create employment to African youth through large scale commercial rabbit farming. The activities are: raising of rabbits, processing of rabbit meat, Innovating shoes by the use of rabbit by product and use of rabbit drops/rejects as pesticide and manure.

Edmond Ng'walago the Manager experienced in rabbit farming and Hokelai Kaniki, Albentina Mpera and Newton Deogratius. All have passed through International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Youth Agripreneur incubation. We want to broaden our innovation skills and sharing of ideas. We care about happy human life through providing food (meat) and shoes made of rabbit skin. we want to combat the issue of 75% high demand of meat globally by 2050 reported by FAO in 2011.
