~With Biosol We Can Increase Crop Productivity~

BIOSOL is a material consisting of biochar, nutrient, and soil surfactant that can modified porosity of the soil.

Use Case

Our main user is traditional farmer, but also can use by government, NGO's, and private sectror. User need solution to solve crop problem like high porosity, dry land, and reduce organic matter in soil. Our user think that BIOSOL can increase crop productivity, because BIOSOL containing soil surfactant, biochar, and nutrient. User believe BIOSOL have big chance to develop in large scale.

Potential

Agricultural intensification has caused declining of soil quality, such as increased porosity of land which causes less productive land. Biosol is a material consisting of biochar, nutrient, and soil surfactant that can modified porosity of the soil, so the quality of soil can increase. The choice of oil palm bunches, rice bran, and DEA as source of organic materials was because of their availability and abundance in large quantity, also have non toxic characteristic. The function of Biosol increase all aspect needed for plant growth to improve the wettability of soil for increasing irrigation efficiency and significant water conservation in crop and landscape systems.

Business Case

Our business case is empowering traditional farmer to increase harvest product in degradated soil with high porosity. Also fix degradated soil efficiently and effectively by using natural based materials.

Objectives:

  1. Rehabilitating degradated and non productive soil by increasing their characteristic needed by plant
  2. Utilizing waste material to make product that can to recovery dry land
  3. Increasing qualities of national crop productivity to contribute in food security

In define mode we found insight:
a. Biochar: Carbon resources obtained from biomass pyrolisis. Our biochar made from oil palm bunches biomass residue. The function of Biochar is maximize plant growth, maximize stability, maximize water retention, and also minimize leaching.
b. Nutrient: We made Nutrient from rice bran. In 1 kilograms rice bran containing N 0.6%; C 14%;C/N 23.33; P 56mg/kg, Ca 0.12%; Mg 1.8%. The function is to give nutrition for plant and increasing microbe activity.
c.Soil Surfactant: Soil Surfactant made from anionic surfactant called DEA (Diethanolamide) of palm kernel oil. Soil surfactants can be used to improve the wettability of soil for increasing irrigation efficiency and significant water conservation in crop and landscape systems.

Our Mission

Agricultural intensification has caused declining of soil quality, such as increased porosity of land which causes less productive land. Biosol is a material consisting of biochar, nutrient, and soil surfactant that can modify porosity of the soil. The choice of oil palm bunches, rice bran, and DEA because of their availability in large quantity and nontoxic characteristic. The function of Biosol has maximized stability of soil, enrich nutrition for plant and improve the wettability of soil.

Our Background

The reason we join this challenge because we care about food security, one of the greatest challenge the world faces is how to ensure that a growing global population as enough food to meet their nutritional needs. So global food production should be increased while agricultural land decreased because soil degeneration.
