EZYFARM

Farming made easier.

EzyFarm an agricultural online store, with real time extension service.

Use Case

EzyFarm integrates various agriculture service providers onto one platform such as agro-chemical suppliers, seed breeders, and veterinary product suppliers etc. EzyFarm is designed to offer real time extension service through online chat and messaging centre. Farmers can chat with an extension advisor, upload images of diseased livestock or crops and receive diagnosis and remedies from specialists. Using EzyFarm messaging centre, extension service providers can schedule a series of advisory messages, design plant to harvest campaigns and broadcast them via SMS or online message broadcast. EzyFarm online shop sells agricultural products from various suppliers, once a purchase is made goods are shipped to the buyer. Farmers without internet access information via SMS.

Potential

Marginalization, under developed infrastructure and scattered information has cost African small holder farmers a fair share of access to quality data from enough markets with enough frequency. Some farmers misuse agro-chemicals and wrongfully dispose empty chemical containers, resulting in contamination of water bodies and in some cases there has been loss of human life and crop loss. Moreover they produce poor quality products due to reliance on traditional practices, limited knowledge on required market standards and poor post-harvest technologies. Through EzyFarm small holder farmers are empowered through access to information, helping them optimize their farming practices for quality production thereby earning more money, preservation of human life and the environment.
