AFS – Agroforestry Fencing System

Fencing to increase - Boosting agroforestry systems

Agroforestry systems (AGS) and pasture intensification are rising currently. AFS comes to maximize pasture production via AGS sustainably.

Use Case

The product was designed to attend farmers needs, from small to large areas, who wants or already has cattle and trees in their agroforestry farms. This system, just in Brazil, had more than 11.5 millions hectares in 2015 and there is a prediction of 15 millions hectares until 2020 . AFS will allow the farmer to intensify the pasture system, having more animals in the same area, producing more meat and/or milk, and spending less money and natural resources.

Potential

AFS is a product that fits in the current reality of the farmers dedicated to the production of milk and beef. The product offers a better utilization of the productive area, besides of reduce the costs of pasture intensification. Such a product contributes directly to the world market, due to the many countries that are dependent on beef exports from Brazil. In this way, AFS comes as a completely innovative product for both producers and consumers, as the cost benefit of fence installation may reflect on the product. This is sustainable being economically viable, ecologically correct and socially fair and this contributes directly to the greater productivity to the farmers. Finally,AFS is a favorable product to be accepted and integrated in the world market.

Business Case

The first step of our business model ia to structure a beta version of AFS, then create a patent. After this step, our expectation is to plan the line production and then start to produce it. The Agroforestry Fencing System will be commercialized through two main ways: 1-Commercial representatives/sellers who will have a direct contact with farmers. 2-Online orders via AFS website.

Objectives:

  1. Be a market reference , revolutionizing the way that agroforestry systems are viewed in the world.
  2. Enable agroforestry systems area increasing, turning into a viable option to farmers.
  3. Change the concepts of old technologies and low productivity related to Brazilian pasture systems.
